A final piece for survey that I started and completed this morning! Half letterpresses and half painted. And college. A bit 3D.
Look at the stars, look how they shine for you!…haha not exactly what I originally thought of. This guy was inspired by a man who plays his guitar at the union square subway station on Friday mornings. He always has a crown on and has a sick mustache.
Made my own business cards last night for my end of the semester survey!
“Who dah f—- Caires?” “Rachel Caires!”
Finally decided to put to use my last name joke that I’ve been hearing since middle school.
Soon to be letterpressed..
No idea how I really came up with this. Literally told my friend I had no idea what to make a poster of then she said “Oh dear” as a response so I just went with it.
welp here is a soon-to-be poster. digital.
While cleaning up some of my pieces I zoomed in on this little guy. Wish I could float away by balloon like him!
watercolor, gouache, acrylic.
Arachibutyrophobia:
A persistent, abnormal, and unwarranted fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth. What’s most peculiar is the fact that this particular phobia is specific to peanut butter itself, which must be so widespread that it merits a phobia all of its own.
Watercolor, gouache, and digital.
Progress…
Too much brown and it’s driving me crazy.
DEAR BRAIN AND EYES,
PLEASE WORK.
THANK YOU,
-ME.
Terrified to start painting this piece. Woof hur we go.
Fear of peanut butter getting stuck to the roof of your mouth. (Weird phobia)
Little Raindrop is starting to realize earth isn’t for him. He misses his cloud in the sky.
Watercolor and gouache.
Little Raindrop finally finds a spot that isn’t too hot nor too cold. He takes a break from all his traveling and naps with a chipmunk!
I need to start coloring these when I’m not exhausted so I make better color choices..
Watercolor and gouache.
There is nothing wrong with loving the crap out of everything. Negative people find their walls. So never apologize for your enthusiasm. Never. Ever. Never.”

Little Raindrop travels to the polar climate to say hi to a sleepy baby penguin! Unfortunately, it’s too cold for him so he continues his journey..
Not exactly finished.
Ugh god. Well….
Here are some dumb, fartsy, maps of Manhattan than I letterpressed then paint penned over.
Yup not exactly done but whatevs.
All the sections on Manhattan are outlined like bones. Like the little ones in your feet/hands. The bones that make up the city though…ya know..
Ink and paint pen.
